Le sigh. Where are the goddamn Soul Reaper captains?! *huffs*

There are a few laugh-out-loud moments in Bleach, Volume 29: The Slashing Opera, which made up for the lackluster action scenes. I really hate to say this, but I felt bored with Uryū's fight with Arrancar No. 105, Cirucci Sanderwicci. Although his power has impressively magnified, the dude just talks too much.

Ichigo's battle with Dordoni comes to an end with a surprising twist involving Nel. Ichigo's fight was the most interesting battle in the book and also the funniest. Nel is adorable!

As Chad fights Gantenbainne Mosqueda, the 107th Arrancar, he displays his newly strengthened powers. Chad's powers are interesting and I look forward to seeing him actually kick some butt in the near future.

The fight scenes tended to be funnier than exciting. (view spoiler)[During Dordoni's fight with Ichigo, he kept referring to Ichigo's "chocolate sweetness", which I found so bizarre!! And while Uryū fights Cirucci, Pesche is being threatened but all he can focus on is seeing her panties. (hide spoiler)]

Some of my favorite funny moments:
(view spoiler)[Renji instinctively running away from Dondochakka cracks me up.

Nel referencing "jiggle" and "uvula" in the same sentence is disgusting! I love how Ichigo is so protective over her.

The side story at the end, Bleach on the Beach, is probably the best part of the entire volume. Matsumoto teaching Orihime how to carry water and Ikkaku's loincloth was hilarious. I loved the very end with Hitsugaya because I totally relate! (hide spoiler)]

Even though this set-up volume (yet another one!) isn't as exciting, it has some truly hilarious bits that makes it still an entertaining read. I am crossing my fingers that the filler volumes are almost through and that we're getting closer to the juicy Espada action soon.

The son of a town council member in Fuchu, Aki District, Hiroshima. He never took drawing seriously until he was 17; after reading Dragon Ball he knew he wanted to be a manga artist. At the age of 18 he submitted his first concept for the series Zombiepowder but it got rejected. Zombiepowder was rejected multiple times until Kubo was 22, when it finally was accepted by Shonen Jump. It did not last long; it was cancelled after four volumes in late 2000.

His next series, Bleach, about a high school student who becomes a shinigami and fights hollows, was not such a failure. Bleach began regular publication in 2001. It has been running in Weekly Shonen Jump ever since.
